The Breastfeeding Committee for Canada is leading a National Baby-Friendly Initiative (BFI) Quality Improvement (QI) Collaborative Project with 15 healthcare organizations and 26 hospital sites across Canada.
Over 30 months, the participating hospital teams will meet face to face and join virtual webinars to learn and share improvement strategies. Hospitals will be provided with tools to regularly collect data and share results within the Collaborative with the spirit of ‘all share, all learn’.
The BFI QI Collaborative Project is based on the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Collaborative for Achieving Breakthrough Improvement Model. A team of experts in Quality Improvement, Baby-Friendly, Evaluation and Administration will assist participating hospitals and monitor progress over time to meet their goals aligned with the Collaborative’s aim of increasing the number of BFI designated hospitals from 21 to 36 by December 2023.
