The BCC is a registered not for profit organization dedicated to the protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding and the implementation of the Baby-Friendly Initiative (BFI) in Canada
Officially called the BFHI Network for Industrialized Nations, Central and Eastern European Nations and Independent States, the BFHI Network was established in 1997 in coordination with the WHO, by BFHI Country Coordinators and focal points from Industrialized Nations, Central and Eastern European Countries and Independent States. Its has active participation from 41 countries.
The Breastfeeding Committee for Canada is leading a National Baby-Friendly Initiative (BFI) Quality Improvement (QI) Collaborative Project with 15 healthcare organizations and 26 hospital sites across Canada.
