The BFI Assessment Committee is a Standing Committee of the Breastfeeding Committee for Canada (BCC). The BFI Assessment Committee supports the implementation of the Baby-Friendly Initiative (BFI) across Canada (excluding Quebec) by developing and updating Canadian BFI standards in alignment with the WHO/UNICEF Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), and by overseeing the Recognition Program and External Assessment processes for hospitals and community health services. The committee collaborates with the BCC Provincial/Territorial BFI Implementation Committee to strengthen BFI expertise and capacity across Canada and trains and supports BCC BFI Mentor candidates and BCC BFI Mentors.
