National Breastfeeding Week Announced – Breastfeeding Committee for Canada

National Breastfeeding Week Announced

Exciting News! The government of Canada has just recognized “National Breastfeeding Week” and added it to the Calendar of Health Promotion days.
You may be familiar with “World Breastfeeding Week”, which is historically celebrated around the world in August.

In Canada, we recognize “National Breastfeeding Week” in the 40th week of the year, which is in October, because it is the 10th month of the year and symbolizes the first week of a baby’s life (after nine months of pregnancy) when a baby may begin to breastfeed.

We have just launched a new page on our website for this topic: it’s all about how Canadians can help celebrate and promote National Breastfeeding Week!
