Scaling-up the Implementation of the Baby-Friendly Initiative (BFI) Across Canada – Sharing our Success Stories! The World Health Organization called up all nations in 2018 to scale up the implementation for the Baby-Friendly Initiative. Canada stepped up with the Public Health Agency of Canada funding the Breastfeeding Committee for Canada (BCC) to improve maternal & child health by increasing breastfeeding rates. Twenty-five hospital teams across Canada participated in a 30 month National BFI Quality Improvement Collaborative Project to implement the BFI 10 Steps. Other organizations across Canada have also stepped up to the challenge and have shared their strategies for success by applying to be recognized through the Health Standards organizations (HSO) Leading Practices.
